Enhance your home's curb appeal

Curb appeal is a buzz word that you always hear about. What is curb appeal? Curb appeal, in a couple of words, is the "Wow Factor" of your home. First impressions matter, whether its selling yourself in an interview or selling your home to prospective buyers, curb appeal and first impressions are a major reason for homes sitting or selling.

Tip 1 Clean your beds

Depending on the time of year, you may or may not have flowers coming up in your beds or they might just be overgrown from years of neglect. If you can weed to make existing flowers pop, do it! If its later in the season and you want that immediate wow factor, go to your local farm stand or home depot and pick up some flowers you can plant to make your beds pop.

Tip 2 Look up!

Look up at those gutters, if they are full of sticks and leaves get out that ladder and clean them out. Even though it may not seem like a big deal, that with subconsciously tell the buyer you may have also neglected other parts of your home, not to mention dirty gutters are just an eye sore to look at.

Tip 3 Trip Branches

Walk out to the street and take a good hard look at your home. Look for any obstructions to viewing your home. Overgrown branches and shrubs can make your home look unappealing, your yard look crowded, and mask some great features of your homes exterior. You want potential buyers to get a clear look at your home when they drive by, if there are obstructions, trim them back!

It is tempting to just make the interior of your home sparkle and just mow the grass and string trim to make it look neat, but there is much more to curb appeal than that. Many buyers will drive around neighborhoods looking at prospective homes, and you could lose a sale before they even step through the door if your home lacks curb appeal. Remember, you only have one chance to make a lasting first impression!
